July 14-15 2023. The Orient held its Summer Orient Advisory Retreat (SOAR) in Greensboro which included Deputy Orient Report on Fiduciary, State of the Rite Honors, Edicts in effect and opportunities; Supreme Council Reports on Membership and Development; Orient Committee Chair Reports; Initiatives and Strategies. The second day consisted of the Orientwide H. Lloyd Wilkerson Reunion and initiated 33 new Scottish Rite Members into the Orient

50 Year Member Cap Presentation

David Hutchins 50 year member presentation
At the SOAR in Greensboro NC, Deputy of the Orient Gene Cobb presented the 50 Year cap, certificate, gold card and lapel pin to Bro David Hutchins. Bro Hutchins was raised in Newport Lodge, a DDGL and Initiated in our Valley on April 10, 1973.

Members of the Valley attended the Memorial Day Ceremony at the U.S. Nation Cemetery New Bern.

2023 First Responders Appreciation Luncheon

The Valley hosted a hamburger and hot dog luncheon for First Responder Appreciation on 8 May at the New Born York Rite Building. We were honored to have over 70 responders in attendance. Among the present were Fire Chief Robert Boyd, and Police Chief (Brother) Raymond Gallagher, and Craven County Sherriff (Brother) Chip Hughes.

50 Year Member Cap Presentation

The Valley of New Bern Fall 2023 Reunion included recognition of our 50 year membership. Among those able to attend was Jack Sutton (Center age 95) and his wife. Celebrating with him are (Left to Right) Asa Buck, Personal Rep, Dallas Sutton, his son, and Johnny Surles, General Secretary

Ill. Brother Mike Powell, 33° left his earthly bonds on this date 01/13/2023. Ill. Brother Mike was a member of 7 lodges, his home Lodge being Lafayette #83 in Jacksonville. Ill. Brother Mike was a leader, mentor and friend for so many Masons. Please keep his family in your prayers. Rest in Peace My Brother.
